Genwell Weekends
GenWell Weekends are strategically selected weekends when research suggests that people
may benefit most from an opportunity to get connected face-to-face with others. By rallying 40 million Canadians to connect over the same period of time, we make reaching out easier for some and fun for all. We also provide an excuse and permission to take action. GenWell Weekends can also act as a reminder to those who may feel comfortable in reaching out to think about who might benefit from their outreach.
Let’s all use GenWell Weekend to reach out to those you have been meaning to see, but haven’t made the time.

How it Began
Originally inspired by the human connections made during a blackout in 2003, that affected 50 million people on the Eastern seaboard of North America, GenWell Weekends give each of us the excuse to reach out and get connected with others, without the need for a blackout or any other type of crisis, whether it be personal or a global pandemic.

Why come back each spring & fall?
Each GenWell Weekend provides an opportunity to connect with people you have been meaning to reach out to or see.
This GenWell Weekend, your focus may be on friends or family. The next may be on colleagues and classmates or building greater connections with your neighbours.
Eventually, it may be about reaching out to someone in need or building connections through volunteering with other empathetic individuals.
Needless to say, we have a long way to go and lots of connections that we can all build upon. The key is to get started and GenWell Weekend is the perfect catalyst to make it happen!
