GenWell Weekends for Businesses

Twice a year (spring and fall), we work to activate Canadians to participate in GenWell Weekends from Friday - Sunday.

What are we asking?

On Friday’s we encourage businesses to gather their employees, clients, customers, partners, suppliers or neighbours and get connected face-to-face for the health and well-being of everyone. On Saturday and Sunday, we want to inspire employees to take this message home with them and build connections with family, friends, neighbours and community.

GenWell Weekends are your excuse, reminder, & permission to get connected with the people you’ve been meaning to reach out to, but just haven't made the time to make it happen.

The impact of a disconnected world

Research clearly demonstrates that social isolation, disconnection, and loneliness are associated with a greater incidence of major psychological, cognitive, and physical morbidities and lower perceived quality of life.

And yet, while Canadians have been educated on the importance of eating well, exercising, and, more recently, mental health, the same is not true for the importance of social connection and social health as a positive, proactive, and inclusive way to sustain or improve their mental and physical well-being.

Before the global pandemic, many took their social connections for granted as they happened naturally throughout our day and routine activities. Post-pandemic, we find ourselves in a world where the sources and frequency of our connections and habits have been reduced, both at the office and beyond, and many are struggling with this new reality.

How can businesses use GenWell Weekend?

GenWell Weekends provide Canadian businesses an opportunity to consciously introduce the benefits of a more connected Canada to employees, partners, suppliers, customers and clients.

By hosting a GenWell gathering with your staff, team, suppliers, partners and anyone else you think would benefit from building healthier connection habits, you begin to entrench the value of making time to connect face-to-face with others. If you are a retail business, you can leverage GenWell Weekend to invite your customers and clients to come in and connect face-to-face for their benefit and yours.
