GenWell Weekends for Communities
Twice a year (spring and fall), GenWell is asking Canadians to be part of the solution to building a more connected Canada where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

What are we asking?
On Fridays, we want to inspire classmates or co-workers to get connected. On Saturday and Sunday, we want people to take that message home with them and connect with family, friends, neighbours and community.
Just getting together with others on GenWell Weekend makes you part of the Human Connection Movement. AND IT’S FUN!
The Power of Human Connection
The global pandemic has awoken most Canadians to the impact of social isolation, disconnection and loneliness on our health & well-being, whether through the lens of our seniors, our young, our workplaces, or the communities in which we live. Here are just some of the negative health impacts of loneliness.

However, research has also shown the immense benefits that human connection has for our mental and physical health, such as.

Catalyzing Human Connection on GenWell Weekend
GenWell Weekends are the beating heart of GenWell, inspired by a blackout that gave people an excuse, and permission, to get connected face-to-face. Which we did.
Now we have the opportunity to create a catalytic occasion without the crisis. In today’s busy, fast-paced world, GenWell Weekends are important for 3 reasons:

1) They are strategically selected during the seasonal transitions between winter to spring and summer to fall, when research suggests that people would benefit from more connection and support.
2) We need catalytic occasions to rally around that support and to connect with people that will make us happier & healthier.
3) Finally, we must remember that the key to good social health is in doing things together! No matter how busy life gets, you can mark GenWell Weekends in your calendar as a time to focus on your social health!
